About Me (Company description, Biography, Services I provide):
I am an experienced luxury consumer product thought-leader in such areas as strategic planning, mergers & acquisitions, global sourcing, digital applications and retail strategy.

I have had top-level operating experience in consumer product industries: from silver and gold jewelry manufacturing and sourcing, to retailing and branding. I am equally proficient at ‘turning-around’ struggling companies to achieve profitability under challenging environments.

My ‘leading-edge’ articles, found in 8 global trade journals, deal, in part, with global market strategy and branding. I am a contributor on the jewelry industry for the FOX Business Network and a frequent panelist. My blog on global product sourcing, (BrassemGlobalConsulting.com/blog) is read across the globe.

The US State Department, asked me to advise Thai companies on developing marketing strategies in the US. I have worked with US, Asian and European firms on expanding their global operations and finding more profitable sources of supply. I have helped US-based Hedge Funds analyze investment opportunities in specific jewelry distribution channels.

I am an active cross-border mergers & acquisitions executive, working with a number of luxury consumer product companies to expand their sales and profits; increase their product diversification and/or global distribution.

I have advised several Connecticut-based museum and tourist attractions including Mark Twain House and Museum and Camp Care among others, on developing market position, increasing traffic and profitability.

Most recently, I have been working with Connecticut’s Commissioner on Culture and Tourism to organize a management symposium for the states tourism, historical and cultural locations utilizing the state’s professorial and consulting marketing expertise.

Earlier, I designed and launched a ‘killer’ silver jewelry and watch brand which became nationally recognized through an innovative, four-level, horizontally integrated, (“Living Room”) distribution strategy.

The silver jewelry brand was sourced in Hong Kong, India, China, Thailand, Italy, Indonesia, Mexico, Africa and the United States. A global jewelry conglomerate ultimately bought the company in 2007.

Previously, I was recruited to 'turn-around' a limping $20 million, 200-employee, multi-plant and financially challenged global consumer brand leader. I transformed the company, through innovative brand strategies, to a disciplined organization without diluting the company’s mission. A venture capital consortium later bought the company.

Formerly, via LBO, I acquired a large gold jewelry manufacturer, marketing and selling private-label karat gold diamond and stone jewelry through classic retail channels. To deal with a severe recession, (18.8% interest rates, 6% inflation, 9% unemployment), I outsourced numerous manufacturing processes, redefined market strategies, developed a virtual sales force and re-styled designs to meet rapidly changing consumer buying patterns.

I am a frequent lecturer at US Universities -- on advanced management, international business, marketing and leadership, most recently at University of Hartford -- (former Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell was a guest speaker at one of my classes). I was a former member of Young Presidents’ Organization, (YPO), an exclusive global association for presidents of substantial organizations.

I earned an International Business MBA (with Award) from New York University’s Stern Graduate School of Business Administrationn and received a financial management certificate through The National Venture Capital Association taught at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business Administration.

I am a member of Asia Society, Society Professional Analysts, Society of Industry Leaders, The Southern New England Consultant Directory and numerous trade and management associations. I am conversant in several languages and reside with my wife Karen in Connecticut.

A Basic Acquisition Strategy

Stop the presses. News flash. The light at the end of the tunnel may just be the New Jersey Turnpike and not necessarily the end of the jewelry recession. I’ve tried to step back and see where the jewelry industry is heading-- take a peek under the hood so to speak. It’s not that easy. It comes as no surprise that there are just as many negative changes looming as positive ones.

Inflation is supposedly around the corner. Positive cash flows are evaporating. Gold prices continue to…
